latest member to achieve the SRA Professional Designation


Woody R. Fincham, SRA

Woody R. Fincham, SRA (left), is presented with his professional designation certificate by his friend and mentor, Pat Turner, SRA, SRPA (right), who officiated the induction ceremony on March 8, 2011.

Woody R. Fincham, SRA, is presently employed as a property appraiser with the Real Estate Assessor’s Office of the City of Newport News, Virginia.  He is licensed as a Certified Residential Appraiser in Virginia, and he has also held licenses in North Carolina and Tennessee.  


The Newport News Assessor’s Office has more designated members of the Appraisal Institute than any other municipality in the Hampton Roads region, if not the entire Commonwealth of Virginia. Newport News has always been a strong supporter of Appraisal Institute membership.  Past Presidents of our Chapter, and Chief Assessors for the City of Newport News, include Chuck Young, SRA, Joe  Street, SRA, and Larry Trent, MAI, SRA.


Woody Fincham is also one of the founders, major shareholder, and managing appraiser for F&M Associates, a provider of appraisal, review appraisal, and consulting services in the greater Hampton Roads area.  Woody's career began as a home inspector and 203(k) HUD approved consultant, being one of the youngest people to receive that certification.  He has an AA degree from Johnson & Wales University, Norfolk Campus.


Woody has been an instructor of real estate appraisal theory at the Millennium School of Real Estate, teaching real estate agents who are working toward their broker’s license.  He has also trained several colleagues, helping them rise from trainee status to full state licensed residential appraisers.


Woody is also a member of the a la mode labs project, a think tank panel that is helping one of the leading appraisal software companies innovate and improve the workplace for other appraisers.  He was chosen from a group of more than 100 applicants for this position.
